Bev Broks

Bev-BroksBev Broks began her career as a home economist with Alberta Agriculture, after completing her B.Sc. in Human Ecology from the University of Alberta. She worked as a District Home Economist with Alberta Agriculture for 13 years, mostly in the Drayton Valley area.

Bev chose to stay home for a couple of years when her daughters were very young and then re-entered the workforce as a bookkeeper for Drayton Valley’s Medical Centre followed by a similar role with DC Energy. Then in 1998 she joined the Pembina Institute at their Drayton Valley office where she is now the Director of Finance & Administration, overseeing all aspects of the non-profit organization’s accounting, administration and operations. In addition she’s very involved with The Pembina Foundation, overseeing the charity’s finance and administrative functions.
Bev has volunteered in various capacities in the past, many of them related to the activities her daughters were involved in, whether it be school functions, 4-H clubs, swim club or soccer.

Currently Bev is also involved with the G.E.T. (Grow, Eat, Together) group, in Drayton Valley. This group manages and oversees the functions of the Learning Garden located on the front yard of the civic center, and the Community Garden on the Frank Maddock High School grounds. Their mandate is to promote and encourage food security for all.
